American Garage Door recently completed a carport-to-garage transformation in Elberta, AL that turned an exposed stall into a fully enclosed, usable garage space. The project focused on protecting vehicles and belongings from the Gulf Coast climate while reclaiming square footage that adds everyday convenience and long-term value to the home.
Security was a key consideration, so the new garage door keeps tools and personal items out of sight and reduce the likelihood of theft. Converting the carport into an enclosed garage also creates finished square footage, which tends to appeal to buyers and can increase a propertys marketability compared with an open carport.
Choosing the right door also meant accounting for wind performance. For this Elberta project we recommended and installed a door that meets wind-rating considerations for the Southeast, helping the garage hold up better during strong coastal storms.
On the framing side, the project used pressure-treated wood for the door framing to reduce the risk of rot and termite damage, which are common concerns in the region. That material choice supports long-term durability for the new door and helps protect the investment homeowners make when enclosing existing space.
The finished garage provides year-round protection, improved security, and a clean, modern appearance that enhances both daily living and resale potential in Elberta, AL.
